Request deletion of your account and associated data

⚠️ Important: This Action is Permanent

Deleting your account will permanently remove all your data from our servers. This action cannot be undone. Please export your data before proceeding if you want to keep a copy.

How to Request Account Deletion

We provide two ways to delete your Water Tracker & Reminders account:

Option 1: Delete Account Within the App (Recommended)

  1. Open the Water Tracker & Reminders app on your device
  2. Go to Settings (tap the gear icon in the top right corner)
  3. Scroll down to Account Management
  4. Tap "Delete Account"
  5. Review what will be deleted (all data listed below)
  6. Optional: Export your data before deletion by tapping "Export Data First"
  7. Confirm deletion by typing "DELETE" and tapping the confirmation button
  8. Receive confirmation - You'll receive an email confirming your account deletion request

Option 2: Request Deletion via Email

If you cannot access the app or prefer to request deletion via email:

  1. Send an email to: toncho.dev@gmail.com
  2. Subject line: "Account Deletion Request - Water Tracker"
  3. Include in your email:
    • The email address associated with your account
    • Your username (if you have one)
    • Confirmation that you want to permanently delete your account
    • Optional: Reason for deletion (helps us improve)
  4. We will respond within 48 hours to confirm your request
  5. Account deletion will be completed within 30 days

What Data Will Be Deleted

When you delete your Water Tracker & Reminders account, the following data will be permanently removed from our servers:

Hydration Data All water intake logs, custom goals, container settings ✅ Deleted
Progress & Achievements Streaks, badges, statistics, historical charts ✅ Deleted
Reminder Settings All notification preferences and schedules ✅ Deleted
Social Data Friend connections, shared progress (if applicable) ✅ Deleted
Notes & Comments Any notes you added to your logs ✅ Deleted
App Preferences Theme, units, display settings ✅ Deleted
Backup Data All cloud backups and synced data ✅ Deleted

What Data May Be Retained

For legal, security, or legitimate business purposes, we may retain certain limited data:

Data Type Retention Period Reason
Transaction Records 7 years Tax and accounting requirements (if you made purchases)
Email Correspondence 3 years Customer support records and legal compliance
Anonymized Analytics Indefinite Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics for app improvement
Legal/Fraud Prevention Data As required by law Compliance with legal obligations, fraud prevention

Important: Retained data is anonymized or de-identified where possible and cannot be linked back to you.

Deletion Timeline

  • Immediate: Your account is deactivated and you cannot log in
  • Within 24 hours: Your data is removed from active servers
  • Within 30 days: Your data is removed from all backup systems
  • Within 90 days: Your data is completely purged from all systems (except legally required data)

Before You Delete Your Account

Consider these alternatives before permanently deleting your account:

  • Export Your Data: Download a copy of your hydration history and statistics
  • Pause Reminders: Temporarily disable notifications instead of deleting your account
  • Log Out: Simply log out if you want to take a break
  • Contact Support: If you have an issue, we might be able to help without deletion

After Account Deletion

After your account is deleted:

  • You will no longer be able to access your hydration data
  • All your progress, streaks, and achievements will be lost
  • You can create a new account, but your old data cannot be recovered
  • Any premium subscriptions will be cancelled (refunds subject to store policies)
  • Your email address can be used to create a new account after 90 days

Data in Apple Health or Google Fit

Important Note: If you synced your data with Apple Health or Google Fit:

  • Deleting your Water Tracker account does NOT delete data from Apple Health or Google Fit
  • You must manually delete health data from those platforms separately
  • Apple Health: iOS Settings → Privacy → Health → Water Tracker → Delete All Data
  • Google Fit: Google Fit app → Settings → Manage data → Delete data
